SOLIS Textbook Scholarship

Updated: July 14, 2008

The SOLIS Textbook Scholarship is funded solely from the profits generated by the sale of LIS Program T-shirts. The amount of the award may vary from year to year. This scholarship has been created in order to increase the recognition of the extraordinary efforts of student volunteers.

SOLIS's mission is to advocate the imperative role that a professional association plays on the road to becoming a successful innovative leader in the Information profession. In order to accomplish this mission, the various activities sponsored by the LIS students organizations foster an environment that promotes not only professional development but also leads to the betterment of our Detroit community.

Based on this premise, SOLIS will present the Textbook Scholarship to the student(s) whose pro-active contributions and willingness to give 150% has profoundly led to the success of an LIS Student Organization -- these students are considered to be SOLIS heroes.

Eligibility: Any graduate student, including distance education students, currently enrolled in the Library and Information Science Program who demonstrates active involvement in SOLIS; ALA Student Chapter; ASIS&T Student Chapter; SAA Student Chapter; MAME Student Chapter; or SLA Student Group. The president of SOLIS is ineligible.

Selection Criteria: Recipients will be selected on the basis of the student's pro-active contributions to the above named LIS student organizations. The donor (SOLIS) assists in the selection process.
