1. List goals and purposes of the organization Promote membership in MAME and facilitate and encourage participation in the MAME Student Chapter at Wayne State University Provide opportunities for members to support and volunteer at MAME events Provide a local forum for the exchange of ideas and information about trends, issues through discussion groups, student chapter events, and participation at MAME State and Regional events Encourage the development of skills and relationships that will enable students to have an impact within the profession Provide networking opportunities for school library media specialists, educators and other professional and promote involvement in professional activities Provide opportunities for members to serve the local community through service projects and campaigns Increase awareness of the state and national issues in Library and Information Science, particularly those related to School Librarians.
2. Statement of how the group intends to carry out these goals and purposes at Wayne State Our group will plan and organize conferences/workshops, discussion forums, and organize legislative initiatives for library media related issues: Sponsor school-community library media center awareness campaigns Sponsor speakers for presentations of current and relevant issues in Library and Information Science Provide a "voice" in discussion forums for School Library Media Specialists Support MAME initiatives and solicit support for Library Media issues.

4. Please Note: At such time as the purpose or regulations of any national, regional or local groups conflict with the policies of Wayne State University, the later will prevail.
5. Requirements for membership *Any Wayne State student interested in the purpose and goals of the association may become a member of the organization. Membership application/renewal forms shall be sent directly to the membership designate.
6. Please note: All FULL MEMBERS MUST BE REGISTERED STUDENTS OF WAYNE STATE UNIVERSITY. *20% can be non-registered affiliates who have no voting rights, but can participate in the group activities.
7. Officers and Duties
A. The officers of this organization shall consist of a President, Vice-President, President-Elect,Treasurer, Webmaster, and a Secretary/Historian
B. The Executive Board shall consist of the Officers and the Faculty Advisor as Member Ex-Officio.
C. The Officers shall have the following responsibilities
I. President
a. Shall head the Executive Board and have the ultimate responsibility for the functioning of the organization and its relationship with MAME headquarters.
b. Shall convene and conduct the General Membership Meetings and have the primary responsibility for recruitment.
c. Shall be responsible for planning and coordinating chapter activities in cooperation with the Executive Board and the general membership.
d. Shall be responsible for the relationship between Wayne state University and the chapter.
II. Vice-president/President-Elect
a. Shall assume the duties of the President in the latter's absence and shall assume the office of the President should it become vacant during the stated term of office. (The candidate may be a 1st semester student in the MLIS program)
b. Shall assist the President with the duties of the executive office.
c. Shall be responsible for the planning and coordination of organization activities that relate to MAME Regional Meetings and the MAME Annual Conference, and to form committees as needed.
d. Shall be the MAME Information Coordinator, with the primary responsibility for collecting and disseminating information received from MAME Headquarters. The MAME Information Coordinator will establish and maintain a distribution procedure to ensure the effective flow of information from the MAME Headquarters to the MAME Student Chapter membership.
III. Secretary/Historian
a. Shall have record keeping duties and shall keep minutes and records of the organization's meetings and functions.
b. Shall maintain the MAME Student Chapter file and make previous meeting's minutes available to members. c. Provide copies of the current constitution and make new members aware of its existence.
IV. Treasurer
a. Shall be responsible for initiating and coordinating fund raising functions.
b. Shall have primary responsibility over the organization's finances.
c. Reports directly to the President
V. Webmaster Shall design, maintain and update the organization's web site
8.Please Note: ONLY CURRENTLY ENROLLED WAYNE STATE UNIVERSITY STUDENTS ARE ELIGIBLE TO BE OFFICERS
9. Eligibility requirements or qualifications necessary to run for office A student must be currently enrolled in the Wayne State University Library and Information Science Program to meet the eligibility requirements to run for office. Furthermore, the student must be a member of MAME in good standing.
10. Method of nominating and electing new officers All members of the chapter are enttled to vote for the Officers of the organization. The Executive Board shall coordinate nominations of officers. (Nomination by a member or self-nomination or email ballots are acceptable)
11. Method of replacing officers during their term of office The Executive Board shall name an interim officer to serve until the next election.
12. Time of the year for electing new officers Elections will be conducted in August, and the officers will assume the responsibilities of the office in September 1.
13. Number of members and officers necessary to constitute a quorum in order to conduct legal membership meetings, Executive Board meeting etc. (List as a percentage(%) for members and officers) 60% or more of the Executive Board shall constitute a quorum at meetings.
14. Method of conducting meetings In parliamentary procedure, Robert's Rules of Order, at latest edition shall be the authority.
15. Method for members not officers to call emergency meetings or special events An emergency meeting or special event may occur if 60% of the membership deem it necessary. The Vice President must be notified prior to any emergency meeting.
16. Officer responsible for informing membership of emergency or special meetings The Vice-President will inform the membership of emergency or special meetings.
17. Method of informing membership of emergency or special meetings The Wayne State University access identification (located on the membership application) will serve as the mode of contact to notify members regarding an emergency or special meeting.
18. Day and Time of regular membership meetings The chapter shall hold a general membership meeting during (Fall, Winter) and other meetings scheduled during the term as agreed upon by the Executive Board.
19. Membership dues = None
20. The Process for amending this recognition application and number of votes necessary for passage. Articles added to this Constitution may be introduced by any member at any meeting or by petition to the Executive Board. Amendments can be proposed to the Executive Board by petition of 20% of the general membership. Amendments may be adopted by vote of 60% of the Executive Board. Ratification of this Constitution shall be determined by a vote at the next General Membership Meeting of the Chapter. All members of the Executive Board must be present at this meeting. This Constitution will be reviewed by the Executive Board annually.
