A Matter of Interest: Matching Books to Readers
This is a special daylong conference offering stimulating speakers, storytelling, book discussions and idea
sharing.
Keynote speaker Donna Jo Napoli has written books in multiple genres and will share ideas on how we can match
books to readers. she will cover a wide range of books, including books with disturbing content that she
feels are necessary to develop the empathy of the child. Donna Jo will also share ideas about Hi-Lo books.
What's hi about them; what's lo and who are they for?
The day will conclude with storytelling by professional storyteller R. Craig Roney.
Participants are encouraged to read all of the titles in their assigned discussion groups to ensure
the most rewarding sharing of ideas. A member of the Literature, the Child and the Teen Committee will
contact you regarding your discussion group choices.
